The Claypoole's lived a long fulfilling life. In 1812, Betsy and John's child Clarissa moved into their home after being widowed with 5 kids and the 6th one on the way. , Betsy always had kids in her shop to keep her entertained while sewing. In 1817, John Claypoole died after 20 years of being ill. Betsy continued her upholstery and flag making business but now has help from her daughter Clarissa. At the age of 76, Betsy retired and left the shop to her daughter. Betsy then moved in with her daughter, Susanna, where she lived on a farm in Abington. Even though she moved to Abington, she came back to the city every week to go to the Free Quaker Meetinghouse. By 1833, Betsy became completely blind. She spent the last three years of her life with her family on Cherry Street in Philadelphia. On January 30, 1836 she died at the age of 84. She had a peaceful death with her family by her side.
